How to Participate in Activities | Basic Activities | Dominant Activities | Tribe Activities | FAQ

Activities can earn you pelts, fish, and other items through artwork and literature. These rewards can be redeemed for Toko Tokens, used for crafting, or exchanged for a number of other items. Any Tokota can participate in basic activities regardless of hierarchy status, award status, etc.

How to Participate in Activities

Preparation

Create a DeviantArt journal. You can separate per Tokota, activity, or have them all combined in one big journal. This will be a "inventory" of all your caught prey items and other loot. The top of the tracker should have links of any separate areas that you would like admins to reply to, if you'd like to separate rolls by each activity type.

TokoTrainer , TokoTime, or an admin of Tokotas will comment with the result of your activity roll, whether failed or successful. This is your only official proof. If you delete the journal, all of your earned prey and items will no longer be valid. Comments from anyone other than TokoTrainer, TokoTime or an admin of Tokotas are not valid.

Rules and Information

General

  • The maximum number of Tokotas you can participate within an activity varies by activity type. You may include other Tokotas in the activity entry if you wish, but only up to the maximum amount may be judged. The following variations apply:
    • Three Tokotas may be judged in a Basic Activity.
      • Four may be judged in a Basic Activity if one Tokota has the Popular Trait.
    • Two Tokotas may be judged for a Dominant Activity.
      • Three may be judged in a Dominant Activity if one Tokota has the Popular Trait.
    • If you are not collaborating with a tribemate, three Tokotas may be judged in a Tribe Activity.
      • Four may be judged in a Tribe Activity if one Tokota has the Popular Trait.
    • If you are collaborating with a tribemate, five Tokotas may be judged in a Tribe Activity.
      • Six may be judged in a Tribe Activity if one Tokota has the Popular Trait.
  • Tokotas must be uploaded in order to participate in activities.
    • Tokotas with the Shapeshifter Unique Trait could use their Registered Shapeshifter Form. If you are using the alternate form its official reference must be linked on the appropriate form.
    • A Shapeshifter Tokota cannot be the prey in a hunting image, or the fish in a fishing image. They may be in their shapeshifted form, but you will still need to include another prey or fish in the image for it to count.
  • Tokotas must be the correct Hierarchy to participate in certain activities (Dominant Activities).
    • Tokotas must have the Primal Hunter trait and be of at least Dominant Hierarchy to participate in Primal Hunting.
  • You may not add Tokotas to an already rolled entry and have it rolled for an activity again.
  • You may not use rites, quests, etc as activity entries, even for non-participating Tokotas.
  • A handler is not required but including one will grant the handler HP bonus.
  • If comments are disabled we will not roll your artwork and will kick it from the group. This is regardless if the piece is correct as we allow forms to be posted in comments and any corrections cannot be made if comments are disabled.
  • Entries are rolled 100% randomly, but enhancing items, tack, etc. can be used to affect the odds.
  • You may take artistic liberties, including background, location, style, etc. However, Tokotas must still appear as Tokotas, you may not draw them as any real, fictional, or partial creatures of any other kind.
    • The only two activities where backgrounds and their settings matter are caving and diving. Diving must take place in or around water and caving must take place in or just outside a cave. Water is not required to be depicted for Fishing.
  • You must list all bonuses. (Eg. Items, companions, traits, and dominant or alpha status) for them to be rolled. They will not be rolled for if you do not list them.
    • Do not list the description of items and etc. that provide bonuses.
    • The activity form Tokotna.com provides will list what is applied to your Tokota and relevant to the activity. If you don’t want something rolled for, simply take it off the form.
      • You must use the activity form and activity code given to you by your Tokota’s import on Tokotna.com under the Forms tab.
  • In regards to hunting you must list what prey type is being hunted either in the form or in the title of the piece. If it is not listed you will be asked to correct it.
  • Prey cannot be one species dressed up as a different species. This is confusing to rollers and your image/lit will be denied.
  • Prey must be depicted accurate to the species in build and color, and cannot be handlers/other ARPG species/anthro/etc.
  • If your handler or companion is the same species as the prey type, another animal of the prey type must be drawn/written.
  • It is your responsibility as the member to make clear to the admin if you have a specific comment in your tracker you want an activity result posted on - this means featuring the comment and linking to it on the top of your tracker. It is not the admins' responsibility to search through your journal looking for a particular comment.
  • You must clearly separate Tokotas and other ARPG/species forms with breakers, gaps, bolded text, group icons, etc. in the deviation's description.
  • You must use individual art assets for your Tokotas, prey, background, and any other artistic elements. This also applies to text, as you may not plagiarize your own, other players, books, or other written material. You may use stock, however you must credit the stock used. Imports, or any other art uploaded by Tokotas is copyright to us and may not be used as stock.

Images

A visual guide for Activity images and their rules has been created [here].

Literature

  • If writing literature for an activity it must be at least 1200 words and be relevant to the activity. Every Tokota must be included equally to count for the activity.
  • While chapters and parts are allowed, they must have clear beginnings and ends. They may not be direct continuations of one another.
  • For split or collaborated literature, roleplay the parts by each user must be clearly labeled.
  • Generally a Tokota must be mentioned at least 7 times throughout the piece. We're looking for the prey/fish to be mentioned at least 3 times so it’s easy for us to judge and find.
  • You may not pad your literature with overly excessive use of a Tokota/handler/other species names or complicated descriptions of a species’ markings.

Photomanipulation and Crafts

  • You may not use official Tokotas group assets to create any part of your activity image. This includes any and all official group artwork such as backgrounds, items, line art, and imports. Use of Tokotas group assets will result in a warning or ban from the group.
  • Photo Manipulated backgrounds must be significantly altered from the source material and must use at least 3 different sources or a combination of manipulated photos with hand-drawn elements. Minor changes such as cropping, color changes, or filters are not considered significant alterations.
    • Unmanipulated photo backgrounds, even photos you have taken yourself, are not considered acceptable for activities and rites.
  • You may only use stock images if this is allowed under the stock image owner’s terms of use.
    • You must credit and link back to all original sources of the stock, or your entry will not be accepted.
  • Backgrounds must include 3 or more significantly sized edited or original elements. This can include any mix of the following:
    • Sections that are completely original artwork
    • Sections that combine stock resources and original artwork together
    • Sections that include multiple stock resources that have been combined together in an artistic manner
  • Tokotas, handlers, companions, and any other elements that provide additional HP bonuses must include 3 or more edited elements. These can include any mix of the following:
    • Sections that are completely original artwork
    • Sections that combine stock resources and original artwork together
    • Sections that include multiple stock resources that have been combined together in an artistic manner
  • If using manipulation to create the Tokotas in your image, you must significantly alter the source material to properly represent the species, build, markings, and mane type of the Tokota. Recolored images of real animals are not acceptable.
  • Re-use of crafted dolls or figurines to produce activity rolls is not permitted. There is a flat HP bonus associated with crafted artwork, see the Hierarchy System rules for more information. You may still use these crafts in personal work, or for one activity piece per craft.
  • You may not use premade 3D models, presets or bases to create your activity piece.
  • Other areas of the group (Rites, CEs, PvPs, Breeding, etc.) that have image requirements may not accept photo manipulations and/or crafts. Please read any image requirements carefully to see if they are accepted!

Basic Activities

Create Your Entry

All Basic Activity types may only have three tokotas rolled for and counted for the HP bonus. Four Tokotas may be rolled for if one of them has the Popular Trait.

Fishing is available year round. You must draw a full body image, or write a story of your Tokota fishing. A fish must be depicted (at least 25%) and water is not required to be shown. You may depict the fish as a silhouette so long as it is entirely underwater.
Your entry will be rolled randomly for one or more of the following: TT, fish, trash items, Soul Pool Water, companion animals, and more!
Submit it to the Fishing folder in TokoCenter.
To see all available items from Fishing, see the Fishing Price Sheet found on the Member Resources page.

Exploration is also open throughout the year. To participate you must draw a full body image or write a story of your Tokota exploring, investigating, or traversing different types of situations and terrain.
Your entry will be rolled randomly for one or more of the following: TT, rare items, tack, trash items, crafting items, companion animals, and more!
Submit it to the Exploring folder in TokoCenter.
To see all available items from Exploring, see the Exploring Price Sheet found on the Member Resources page.

For Hunting, draw a full body image or write a story of your Tokota hunting one of the prey animals below (at least 25%). The animals available are divided into sizes based on the list below. Activity forms provided by Tokotna.com are prey specific. Please be sure to select the correct prey type in the dropdown prey list!
Your entry will be rolled randomly for one or more of the following: TT, pelts, trash items, bone fragments, companion animals, and more!
Submit it to the Hunting folder in TokoCenter.
To see all available items from Hunting, see the Hunting Price Sheet found on the Member Resources page.

Dominant Activities

Create Your Entry

All Dominant Activity types may only have two Tokotas rolled for and counted for the HP bonus.
Three may be rolled for if one of the Tokotas has the Popular Trait.

There are lots of artistic liberties that can be taken in Caving and Diving. Remember, these tasks are for Dominant Hierarchy Tokotas only, and are generally more dangerous and difficult than average exploration activities! Background, location, style, etc are all up to you, and fantasy backgrounds are also allowed.

If you and your Tokota are lucky, they will come across an elemental underground or underwater. Defeat the elemental and return with its heart to the Soul Pool in Tokotna (the Toko Tokens Bank) to receive a unique blessing. Do not, however, depict your Tokota taking a heart to the pool as your entry - there is never a guarantee of finding and defeating an elemental!

Dangerous Game Hunting
Draw your Tokota tracking, taking down, or bringing home their big prize. Tokotas must also have the Primal Hunter trait in order to participate in Primal Hunting.
Submit to the Dangerous Game folder in TokoCenter.
Dangerous Small Prey:
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Caiman

Primal Hunting (Small Prey):
  • Raptor

Dangerous Large Prey:
  • Moose
  • Mountain Lion

Primal Hunting (Large Prey):
  • Mammoth
  • Smilodon

Caving
It's exactly what it sounds like. Draw your Tokota exploring any sort of cave - eerie ice formed caves, limestone caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites, etc. If you draw your Tokota underwater and are intending to make it a caving entry, you must specify this in the entry information so that it is not confused with a diving entry.
Submit to the Caving folder in TokoCenter.

Diving
It's also exactly what it sounds like! Draw your Tokota diving below the water to investigate coral reefs, underwater glaciers, sunken ships, and other exciting regions of any body of water. Entry must take place underwater or around water, about to dive.
Submit to the Diving folder in TokoCenter.

Tribe Activities

Create Your Entry

Tribemates have the option of doing activities together and including each other's Tokotas for extra benefits and different prey types. All of the earnings from your tribe activities will go to you but you are more than welcome to donate a portion of it to your tribe if desired. Tribe activities must be created by tribemates and cannot be commissioned from artists outside the tribe.

If you are not collaborating with a tribemate, you must include two of your tribemates’ Tokotas. The Tokotas may be owned by the same player, so long as they are in your tribe and have unlocked the relevant tribe activity. The tribemate Tokotas do not have to be rolled for, but they must be included somewhere in the piece. At least one rolled tokota in a non-collaborated tribe activity must belong to the person making the piece. You may collaborate with a non-tribe mate, but you will not get the tribemate bonus and must still feature two of your tribemate's Tokotas. All Tribe Activity types may only have three Tokotas rolled for and counted for the HP bonus. Four may be rolled for if one of the Tokotas has the Popular Trait.
(Please note that Tribe Owned Tokotas do not count as tribemates.)

If you are collaborating with your tribemate(s), each collaborator must use at least one of their respective Tokotas. Collaborations should be labeled with who contributed what parts in either the description or a comment. All Tribe Activity types may only have five Tokotas rolled for and counted for the HP bonus. Six may be rolled for if one of the Tokotas has the Popular Trait.

Please Note:

Tribe fishing will only be unlocked once your tribe has earned Outdoor Enthusiast I.
Tribe hunting will only be unlocked once your tribe has earned Outdoor Enthusiast II. Tribe Hunting may use any Tribe Hunting prey or Basic Hunting prey. Dangerous Game or Primal Hunting prey may not be used.
Tribe exploration will only be unlocked once your tribe has earned Outdoor Enthusiast III.
Additional Tribe Exclusive Fish
Additional Tribe Exclusive Hunting Prey and Items
Additional Tribe Exclusive Exploration Items

Do not submit Tribe Activities to the regular activity folder. Instead, submit it to the appropriate tribe activity folder.

If you submit it to the regular activity folder, it will be rolled as a regular activity image if applicable.

F.A.Q.

If I had an issue with my roll, who do I talk to or where do I note?
Please refer to this F.A.Q., and if you do not find your answer here, note TokoCenter.

Where do I redeem my activity results?
The Toko Tokens Bank!

What if I sell a Tokota with unredeemed activity rewards?
Activity rewards, just like the TT you can redeem them for, belong to the owner of the Tokota at the time the activity image was rolled for, but may be transferred to other players with permission from the owner.

Can I commission someone to do an activity with my Tokota for me?
That's fine. Activity rewards go to whoever currently owns the Tokota in question.

What if there is more than one Tokota in the picture?
The rewards will be rolled separately, and each Tokota must have a listed activity journal.

How do health defects or injuries affect my Tokotas success rate?
Each defect is associated with a specific activity. Tokotas with the defect will receive a -5% success rate when participating in these activities.
  • Blind - Fishing
  • Deaf - Hunting
  • Frail - Diving
  • Lame - Caving
  • Spinal Defects - Exploration
The Concussed injury directly affects your fail rate.

Why wasn't my Tokotas item or trait bonuses rolled for?
There are two answers to this question.
A) It was properly listed in the description of the piece or in the comments and the roller simply forgot to add the bonus in which case you are welcome to note TokoCenter for a correction of this error.
(Please note that it is helpful to put the admin's username in the note title so the admin can easily find and handle situations that need them, but it is not required.)
B) It was not listed and therefore it was not rolled for. This will not be corrected.

What do I do if my Tokota wasn't rolled for in a piece they are included in?
You can note TokoCenter and it will be corrected.
(Please note that it is helpful to put the admin's username in the note title so the admin can easily find and handle situations that need them, but it is not required.)

Can I lease someone else’s Tokota?
No. Only tribes may have their tribe-owned Tokotas leased and their Tribe Leasing achievement must be unlocked.

If my Tokota has had a do-over, and has art coming in with their previous design what do I do?
Link the comment to do-over comment so we know if the art was done before the do-over.

So what is applicable to what activities?
Well, a lot of things! The applicable Tack and Companions are automatically sorted on your Tokota’s activity Forms on Tokotna.

What do I do if I have an activity that was posted before the Tokotas per activity limit was changed?
As long as the activity piece was posted to DeviantArt before April 4, 2017 it can still be rolled with the maximum five Tokotas. Any pieces posted after that date will need to be cut down to three Tokotas.

What if I have a Tokota with 2+ alpha traits that affect an activity?
You may only have one alpha trait active in the piece the Tokota is being rolled for, you must specify which alpha trait you wish to be active in the piece.

Can my tribe have a collective activity journal?
Yes! Even if the items belong to the player, they will be posted on the Tribe journal.

What if I decide to sell my Tokota with a Tribe Companion applied?
You are free to sell your Tokota with a tribe companion applied however, the tribe companion bonus only applies to tribe members. This means that anyone not in your tribe who has your tribe's companion cannot use its benefits. If a member outside of your tribe tries to use the companion's benefits, the companion won't be removed but unless you are in that tribe you will be unable to use that companion.

Do I have to give 50% of my rewards from a tribe activity to my tribe?
Not anymore! As of 12/10/2016 it is optional to donate a portion of what you find to your tribe but it is no longer required. If you would like to donate items or TT to your tribe please bank your items normally and create a Tribe Transfer.

If I collab with a non-tribe member for a tribe Activity can both tribes be rolled for?
No, only one tribe may be rolled for.

Do all tokotas being rolled for in a non-collaborated tribe activity need to have 2 tribemates listed?
No, only the tokota(s) owned by the person who made the activity piece need to have 2 tribemate tokotas listed.

What counts as a collab?
For a collab two or more artists must work on a piece together, this piece must be one consistent type. We do not allow lit and images to be collabed together at this time (one person making the image and the other making a literature in the description). You may either roleplay/collab a lit or have all parties participate in an image piece. We do allow collabs results to all go to the same individual.

Can tribe-owned Tokotas be used as a tribemate Tokota to do Tribe Activities or for using bonuses that require a tribemate's Tokota?
No, they cannot.
