Half Mane

The Half is the second most common mane type found in tokotas, and displays on all build types. The Half mane gets its name from the distinctive "half mane" formed by the lack of fur on the underside of the tokota's neck. The Half mane is characterized by medium-length fur on the tokota's cheeks, tail and back of the neck. The remainder of the body features the classic short fur usually found on the body. As with all tokota fur, this mane is a double coat that repels water.

The Half mane is more adept to coastal living as they benefit greatly from having less of the longer fur to dry after swimming, though they are almost as far spread as Natural manes. Scientists also believe that this mane type is the first adaptation tokotas developed to survive in warmer climates, allowing them to live at lower altitudes.

This variety also has a unique advantage when hunting in grassy plains. While their short coats create less sound, their long neck hair provides extra camouflage in the long grasses they use as cover, making them excellent ambush predators.

As they lack the protection of a full neck of fur, it is not uncommon to find neck scars beneath the fur of wild Half manes. However, the tokota's natural layer of blubber is thicker along the neck than other parts of the body, so it is uncommon for these tokotas to suffer fatal neck wounds.
