Razor Mane

The Razor is a rare mane type found in tokotas, and displays on all build types. The Razor mane gets its name from the distinctive line of medium-length fur along the tokota's spine and shoulder blade. The Razor mane is characterized by the medium-length fur on the tokota's cheeks, haunches, tail, and along the spine and shoulder blade. The remainder of the body features the classic short fur usually found on the body. As with all tokota fur, this mane is a double coat that repels water.

The Razor mane was discovered deep in the Tartoks during the recent Expedition there where akotas were also discovered. It is believed to have evolved as an aid to intimidation for standard build tokotas, foreboding mountains are primarily home to dires with akotas at their heart. With such an extreme size disadvantage, the raised fur along the spine adds height as well as a more aggressive appearance. Some speculate that the mane comes, in part, from diluted akota blood, as the Razor silhouette closely mimics the thick neck and shoulders of an akota, but there is no scientific evidence of this.

A common misconception is that the mane on a Razor is too stiff and unable to support a saddle comfortably.

Mane Variants:
