Legend tells of a young Tokota pup that felt he was the bravest leader in Tokotna. He ignored the teachings of his elders, finding their warnings and lessons boring and beneath him. Every chance he got he'd break away from his pack's watchful eyes and go out exploring on his own. During one of these adventures, the overconfident pup was exploring the deep jungle trails. He was stopped by a loud monkey sitting upon a thick, moss-covered tree branch who mocked him and told him to go home to his pack. Irritated and offended by the monkey, the Tokota climbed up onto the tree branch and strode toward them, ready to pounce on them despite the monkey's advantage among the treetops. The pup lunged clumsily for the monkey, but in his anger, he miscalculated his footing and slipped on the mossy branch. Suddenly, he was falling toward the ground and his startled howl scared the monkey off. The pup was stopped before he hit the ground by a tangle of vines hanging from the tree. Completely entangled in the vines, the pup could not break loose and soon his overconfident personality broke, leaving him to come to terms with a hopeless situation that he could not get out of. The unfortunate pup is said to have been stuck in the vines until his final breath, exhausted, emaciated, and broken with guilt, self-loathing, and regret. These intense emotions, paired with the traumatic ending of his life, are said to have locked his soul to the jungle, forever miserable and determined to spread that misery with others.
Rhenkku is a strange and mysterious creature, often unfindable to those who search for them while revealing themselves to unsuspecting individuals. Most often covered in a shroud of vines and leaves that camouflage them into their jungle environment, some even say that Rhenkku reveals their presence without being visible at all. The presence of this deity invokes overwhelming feelings of discomfort, though it is said that Rhenkku is only capable of intensifying thoughts and feelings that are already present in their victims. They prey on those who hold hidden doubts, regrets, secrets, and guilt, intensifying these emotions to manipulate people and Tokotas for fun, or to get what they want.
Those who walk Maquraq's jungles are instructed to keep clear, confident minds and hearts in their travels, lest they summon Rhenkku.
