Sunken Rest

Narnvak
Almost always fair, thanks to the mild ocean currents around Narnvak. Cool wind blows from the ocean and only soft rain occasionally touches the area.
Description:
A secluded cove in the south of Narnvak composed of vibrant pink sand. The rocky cliff walls surrounding it are a white granite - giving the area a serene appearance. Flora sits atop the cliffs, complete with flowering vines hanging down, adding to the seclusive nature of the location. Many rocky outcroppings create a beautiful array of tide pools where ocean creatures can be seen when the tide is low. Various caves and caverns dot the walls, allowing for handlers and tokotas alike to venture in and explore. A variety of treasures pulled up from the ocean can be found here.
However, in contrast to the romantic essence of the cove itself, what is most startling is the massive ship only feet from the shore; its wooden body covered in algae, barnacles, and an array of sea life. Its masts have long since broken off in time; its sails have rotted away and are nearly gone, their ghosts barely visible beyond the oceanic life that now resides there.
Landmarks:
  • Hjarta Wilds - The forest that lines the top of the granite cliffs above the cove. It is overgrown and difficult to navigate. Those who have tried to clear paths to the Sunken Rest often find that the pathway is covered by the underbrush within a few days. Locals have given up on trying to maintain routes to the cove because of this.
  • Heart Stone Altar - A large stone outcropping, shaped vaguely like a heart. This is a popular site for bonding and wedding ceremonies.
  • Týnd Ást - Also known as “Lost Love Caverns,” a small cavern that is hidden by various foliage. It’s well known for the stream that gathers several items from the sea and carries them inside the cavern. Handlers and tokotas alike will always find something interesting here: treasure pulled from the sea, young couples smooching, or teens trying to find a letter in a bottle.
  • The Larkspur - The rotting shipwreck from days of old that had run aground. Even though much of the wood has rotted out or fallen over, most of the body of the ship is still preserved enough that it is safe to enter at low tide. Portions of the ship submerged in water during high tide are covered in mussels, barnacles, anemones, and other sea life typical of tide pools. Algae covers much of the rest of the form. Two masts had fallen and are now draped across the thin shore, also covered in algae and sea life. Crabs can be found taking shelter in the hollowed-out husk and under the rotting sails and masts.
Lore:
  • Some say that if you are separated from your significant other in the confusing Hjarta Wilds, then your love is doomed to fail.
  • Legend says that the area was blessed by Sikrinerk, turning the sand forever pink. Couples and groups (romantic or otherwise) willing to make the journey down the cliffs to the beach and perform a bonding ceremony are said to be linked forever.
  • Two skeletons, immortally entwined, lay in the lower decks of the Larkspur, the only passengers that remain; though some find this sight gruesome, the locals say if a couple was to go out to see the sight without throwing up, their relationship will last a lifetime.
  • A rumor says that taking your significant other to the Týnd Ást will reveal the truth about your relationship - if you’re ready. Several couples either break off or strengthen their bond after visiting.
  • Finding a letter in a bottle within the Týnd Ást is said to be the key to finding your soulmate.
