Wire Mane

The Wire is found on all build types of Tokotas. It is a very distinct mane type, similar to the yeti in that it effects the entirety of the Tokotas fur, giving its coat that signature wired look and coarse texture. The first record of the wire mane was the result of an accidental crossing of a Curly mane and a Rough mane. Two of the pups from this pairing showed unexpectedly coarse fur that the breeder described as wire. Named "Wire Mane" after the incident, the breeder had fallen for the new look and determined to breed more to share with the rest of Tokotna.

The Wire mane has a double coat which serves as an excellent water repellent, meaning these Tokotas are even better suited to water than most others. They do, however, need to be thoroughly dried to avoid that lingering 'wet Tokota' smell.

Wired Tokotas can get away with being groomed only once a week.
