West Tide Rescue Shelter is the primary destination for surrendered or rescued tokotas in the Tyonek area. It's largely volunteer run with only a small number of paid staff, and the shelter itself is modestly sized. As such it's not uncommon to see staff and trusted volunteers fostering some of the animals until they can find new homes.
