It was too much for Thad, everything was happening so quickly, and between all his friends leaving, and his life outside of Tokotna calling, his duties and family...

He couldn't stay any longer, though the thought of leaving the large beasts tore a hole in his chest that he doubted would fill any time soon.

He had to be sure the tokotas were left in the right hands, with someone who felt the same about them. And he knew that would take some time. This meant he had to start looking for someone right away.
