Kovu is rather calm for what he's been through. Abused by his previous owners, he was saved by his current handler. After about a year of being with her, Kovu had learned that he was a part of his handler's family and had started trusting her. Now a days, he tends to greet his handler with big, slobbery kisses to her face. Of coarse, she has no problem with this. Despite of his trust for his handler, he rarely has the same feeling towards another of his kind. An outsider, he would much rather go running in the forest behind his handler's ranch than to be with other Tokotas. However, he tends to like pups for their playfulness and will go ahead and play with them. This has caused his handler to give him the nickname "Cub." Kovu's constant long runs has lead him to build up more stamina and speed than your average Tokota. Whenever he and his handler go out hunting, they at times come across other handlers and Tokotas and challenge them to a race. If accepted, Kovu winning is almost always inevitable. His handler thinks that this would make him a great sled dog, if he's only calm down enough to be one.
