Balto is a brave selfless creature. He elects to protect and serves others. Although he likes human kind and desires their companionship, humans do not share the same feelings for him. Humans view him as a mutt or stray. They usually shoo him away. This rejection from human domesticated life has given him identity problems. He does not understand whether he is wild or domestication, he doesn't know where his true path lies. Do to his internal confusion, he remains a stray, walking the line between wild and domesticated.
