Merida is a free spirit and takes very poorly to being told what to do - it's much better to just suggest something and let her decide on her own to do it, as forcing her into anything usually results in her disappearing for several hours to avoid having to do it. She is very set on making her own path in life. Also, she is very against the overall 'female' stereotype and insists on doing anything and everything the boys do, just to prove she can do it too. Fiery and fierce, she is not one to cross or be bossed around.
