Not long after Mer appeared in Tokotna he had proven himself worthy of handling tokotas (seems he was an animal behaviorist before) and he took care of some of the tokotas that were held captive by TCA due to being too dangerous or to release them to the wild or just too hard to handle for the rest of the handlers. Those were Martva, Vintage, Smokey Eye, Eastbound and Hircine.
