No one knows where Móðir came from. She wasn't brought in by anyone from the Gorging Boars, nor was she brought in by the Dires; one day she wasn't there and the next, there she was. Standing within the pack with an air of authority that made even Bear hesitate from attacking her. Móðir has no ties to any of the humans in the Gorging Boars save for Ula, the young daughter of Alaric. 

Móðir is never involved in fights or raids; her duty is to remain in the Gorging Boar camp to watch over Ula and ensure her safety from the Dires and human members of the nomadic clan. For the majority of her time, she is inside the tent Ula lives in standing guard at the door. The rare times she is seen outside of the tent she is given a wide berth and is shown some respect. While Bear never bows to her, the Dire does make sure she isn't bothered and she has food to eat after a hunt. It is strange that she is shown respect without her having to fight for it, but no one dares be the first to bare their teeth. The only one who has the power and rank to do so refuses to do so, giving Móðir the rank of Matriarch of the Gorging Boar Dires.
