Lonato = Flint
Kaya was not sure how she ended up deep in the Tartok mountains, or rather deep enough within them to stumble across a pair of abandoned Tokota pups, but when she did, the handler took them out of the mountains with her, without a second thought. The woman then found herself with an Akota pup, which was Lonato. The boy was bigger than his sister, Yancey, that was for sure, and the handler knew that the pair were of Dire origin, but she never once thought that the male of the pair would be an Akota. They were a legend to the handler. Until that is, Lonato just kept growing, and growing. He was a big lovebug at first, but as he got older and his hormones started to kick in, he started to show more and more of his heritage. He never once got snippy with any Tokotas of his pack, or his handlers, but outsiders were quickly becoming a problem. Kaya had to do some immense training with the male in his teenage years, but finally got him to be more hospitable towards others. Loot tolerated them at least. He was very steely in his attitude towards newcomers, and often it took a while for this prehistoric monster to warm up to others, but after a while, and when a newcomer, Tokota or handler alike, proved their worth to him, his flint-like edge wore off towards them. He got in a fight with a grizzly while on a hunt, protecting his handler, which resulted in his torn ear and broken fang. The scars on his face were a present from his little sister Yancey.
