Nobody really 'gets' Eight. He can frequently be found sitting in odd places around the camp, alone, staring off into the distance, or gazing intently at a piece of tree bark. When questioned about what exactly he's looking for, he shakes his head, then responds with some cryptic statement, like "it's not time yet", or "the answer will come in time". Any further attempts to question him and he just pretends to not know what you're talking about. This has led to him being slightly ostracised by all but the most welcoming of tokotas, but that doesn't seem to bother him, as it provides him with more time for...whatever it is he's doing.
