His turbulent puppyhood made him skittish and slow to trust, but once he warms up to you he's incredibly sweet and loving. He's quite fond of Honey Spice Treats thanks to Harper bribing him with said treats so Valentine would open up to him (guess what, mission accomplished).

He's fond of Harper and the sisters, Devil Cake and Sweet Potato: they're his home, his safe place in this world.
