Akehem Shipping Yard

Narnvak
Generally warm and temperate, with mild seasons. During the summer, the coastal breeze would make it a nice place to seek relief from the heat, if not for the stink of garbage and long-forgotten cargo on the air.
Description:
The Shipping Yard is the central hub of trade in Narnvak. Located in its largest city, it is the main port for commercial ships. Vibrantly colored shipping containers fill up the horizon, as do the cranes and equipment necessary to load and unload them onto ships. The area is incredibly busy, with workers bustling back and forth constantly.
Landmarks:
  • The Harbourmaster's Office - The kindhearted harbourmaster that oversees Akehem is very fond of tokotas. He always has work available for those tokotas and handlers willing to pull their weight. He has a stash of treats and snacks in his office for both visitors and workers; tokotas and handlers
  • Old Rusty - An old, rusted-over green shipping container that sits abandoned to the side of the shipping yard. No one's sure how it got away from the main area of containers, but it's been around for quite a long time.Frankie’s Fish and Chips- The most popular place for dock-workers to get lunch, Frankie’s is cheap, delicious, and absolutely awful for your health. Fresh fish from west of the main harbour is beer battered and deep fried, served with coffee so strong it makes a weak mans eyes water. Apart from the prices, the other thing that always draws a crowd is Slug, Frankie’s toki, who is more than a little chubby off left-behind and pilfered food. All the regulars know to keep their chips towards the centre of the table if they want to keep them.
  • The Seal Roost- A collection of smooth rocks along the bay that are often littered with seals during the evening and early morning. A pretty popular break spot for dock-workers during the day to go and watch seals playing and hunting in the water, and occasionally catch a glimpse of Panuk.
  • The Ghost Shipyard- An abandoned shipyard that was battered in a storm long-ago. It was never rebuilt because the construction of the new shipyard had already been underway. Now, it’s a hotspot for teens with a penchant for ghost stories. The most common is the tale of an akota abandoned by their handler in the chaos of the storm, and now roams the shipyard as a zealot of Ing’a.
Lore:
  • Old Rusty - The infamous landmark. Some say that someone lives within its rusty innards and have even seen an old woman and her toki emerging from its depths, whilst others claim that it is simply haunted, making for a perfect hunting ground for Sivoganik. The Akehem Shipping Yard was the second shipyard built on the South coast of Narnvak. Initially only used to supplement the materials that did not naturally grow well in the humid air of the coast, now, it is a bustling hub of activity at all times. Many luxury goods come through the docks, everything from foreign and exotic fruits, to electronic goods produced in Behmarii.
