Prompt One

Glass Jars?

Walking the docks of the Akehem Shipping Yard, you peer into the water every once in a while, hoping to see a dolphin or beluga. Your toko walks along behind you, eying the strangers passing by warily. Disappointed, you realize that the shipping yard is probably entirely too busy to attract dolphins. Sighing, you pause to read a notice posted on a lamp pole.
“Wanted:
Glass Jars.
Any size.
See Dockmaster for Payment.”
You carefully rummage around in your bags and discover you have five extra jars you can spare. Shrugging at what seems like such a strange request, you and your toko head toward the dockmaster’s office.
You open the door to the dockmaster’s office. A tiny brass bell over the door rings. An older man at the desk looks up.
“‘Ello there! You’ve come with Glass Jars? Excellent! Please put them over here.” He gestures to a spot on the counter. “Sad about that ship getting taken down by a kraken. There’s a famous pigment and ink maker in Maquraq that ordered a whole mess of jars. We promised to help them out if we could.”
The door behind you opens and you catch the tail end of the conversation the people coming into the shop are having. “No, really. People are reporting seeing strange dogs in Fosbir but they don’t think they’re related to Tokotas.”
“Here’s your payment,” the dockmaster says, calling your attention back to him. He hands you a large satchel containing: bag of tokotna Tokens, a bundle of crafting materials, and a small book. You feel like that’s quite a bit for just five jars. You look back up at him in confusion.
“That’s just a taste of things to come if you agree to take these jars all the way to Maquraq. Ya up for it?”
As you readily agree, the dockmaster starts to load all the jars into crates. He hands you a map and a suggested travel itinerary.

Prompt Two

Monkey Business

After a long journey, you arrive at Sankhij Village, Maquraq. You’re moved by how friendly the villagers are to an outsider. You ask around, looking for this famous pigment maker. A few villagers smile and look at each other knowingly. One finally points you to a home at the edge of the village. You knock on the door and a tall man answers. His deep green eyes unnerve you a bit. They seem to bore into your soul.
“Hello! May I help you?” You explain that you have his shipment of glass jars ready to deliver from the ship that brought you here.
“Glass jars? Incredible! I didn’t think that ol’ sea dog would have been able to pull it off.” He slaps his leg and chuckles to himself, shaking his head. “I told the boys I should’a asked for something even stranger.”
You narrow your eyes as it starts to soak in that this man seems to have played some sort of prank on the kindly old man, and as a result, you. You open your mouth to give him a piece of your mind, but he holds up a hand.
“Apologies, friend. I mean no disrespect to ol’ Johnston or to you. I require a certain type of person to help me out in a…pursuit, let’s say. I need someone to run some errands for me. I’m known around here as Jones.”
Just then, a light weight drops on your shoulder. Startled, you reach up and find a tiny capuchin monkey sitting on your shoulder. It plants a kiss on your shoulder and then snuggles up to your neck.
Jones chuckled. “Aw, he likes you. If you want him, you can have him. He’s an orphan that hangs around the village at large. He’s never taken to anybody before. The villagers are afraid something might happen to him without someone dedicated to looking after him.”
Before you can respond, you hear some crashing through the brush behind Jone’s home. “ ‘ey! Boss! They found more of those dogs!” Jones’ face immediately whipped around and scowled at the man coming around the edge of the house. Without another word, the man backpedaled into the jungle with a terrified look on his face.
Turning back around, he smiles at you. “Sorry about that. He must have confused me with someone else. Now, if you want to do some work for me, I have a small task to get you started.” He hands you a bag of what looks like broken tack. “Would you mind repairing this for me? I’d be ever so grateful.” He flashes his most charming smile at you. As you agree, you wonder exactly what you’ve gotten yourself into.

  • Must depict your tokota at Sankhij Village.

Prompt Three

Tricked?

“Great job fixing that tack, friend. Ready for your next task? This one’ll be a little more exciting. If you like to travel anyway.” Jones says, flashing you a charming smile.

He holds out a folder to you. It has the name of a merchant in Alurik,Mervi Engström, as well as details of some sort of stone he wants you to find. “Mervi’s the best in the business when it comes to finding hard to locate objects.” Jones tapped the picture on one of the documents. “It has to be this one. Not one that looks like it.”

He hands you a leather bag. Inside is a heavy pouch of coins, a bundle of materials and a scroll. “You’ll probably want to bring some rations. The journey’s going to be long. You’ll have to go over land. Your ship’s already left.”

Stunned, you stare at his retreating back. Alurik is a long way from Sankhij Village and through some very unforgiving terrain. You realize that’s why the village elders were so kind to you last night. Sitting near the river with your tokota, you ponder if this is even worth it. Maybe you should refuse and return home. A cold wave of realization washes over you like someone dumped ice water down your back. You’re stranded out here. You’ll have to go somewhere. You might as well see where this adventure leads you.

  • Must be Crafting Tier 3:Novice
  • Must turn in 5 Total Small or Large Meat Chunks . May be the same or a mix of different ones.

Prompt Four

Thrift Shop

Upon arriving in Reiish, Alurik, you seek out the Merv's Thrift Shop. You find it nestled amongst a plethora of other quaint little shops. Stepping into the shop, you notice the pleasant aroma of burning herbs. As you glance around the shop, you notice a plethora of items on shelves, bookcases and even hanging from the ceiling.

“May I help you?” You notice a small woman behind the wooden counter. At first you almost mistake her for a child. You explain why you’re there. You pull out the papers Jones gave you.

“Sorry, I don’t have that stone. But there’s a rumor it’s in some jungle ruins. Just a sec,” she says as she disappears into the back of her shop.

As you listen to her shoving stuff around and talking to herself as she searches the back room for something, you can’t help but feel disappointed. You’d hoped this was going to be an easy task. After a few moments she returns, handing you an old journal.

“Here. No charge. It’s been here for a while. Maybe you’ll be able to make some sense of it.”

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 4: Apprentice
  • Must turn in 5 uncommon crafted items. May be the same or mixed.
  • Must depict your Toko in or near Reiish.

Prompt Five

Forest Temple

After hours of trekking through the forest following Merv’s directions, you notice the air feels heavier. A low fog seems to be rolling in. Your toko seems a little wary, protectively closer. Cautiously you move forward, realizing the ground is sloping down gently. The ground becomes soggy as trees become fewer. You notice the lack of trees creates a ring with the broken ruins of a small temple at the center. Consulting the map again, you confirm that you are in the correct location.

You edge forward with care, knowing you could haphazardly stumble into quicksand. You notice broken columns and other stone work jutting out of the soggy ground. You carefully scan the area for the stone you’ve been sent after. You only have a rough guess of the size of the stone, so it could be anywhere. You move into what seemed to be the main section of the temple. Only one short limestone wall remains fully intact. The two walls that are still attached to it are crumbling and broken. Moss hangs over the wall as well as slimy green algae. Where the fourth wall should have been, only a part of an arched doorway remained.

With your Tokota at your shoulder, you move into this section of the temple. A long broken part of what you presume to be an altar lay split in two with one sticking almost straight up. It almost reminds you of a sinking ship. As you bend down to run a reverent hand over the smooth stone, you do a double take at the wall before you. Painted in fading and flaking paint is something of a mural. Large canines you think are meant to be dakinos seem to be playing with smaller, more dog-like creatures. They seem to have long legs and large round ears. It’s hard to tell with the condition of the mural, but you think they have a tawny coat with black and white marks. It could almost be marbling but it could also be the aging of the mural.

Over near one of the crumbling walls, you notice your tokota gently digging at something. As you bend over to get a better look, your breath catches in your throat. It looks like the stone you’ve been searching for. You gently work it out of the mud, wiping it carefully. There appears to be an etching in the center. As you clean the face of the stone, you think it could resemble Varaska, a Fosbir god. You frown in confusion. Why would a Fosbir god have a temple all the way up in Maquraq? Did he originally come from Maquraq?

Shrugging to yourself, you pull a couple lengths of cloth from your bag to wrap up the stone. You hesitate to put the stone in your bag. Is this the right thing to do? Should you be removing stone from it’s resting place? As if to answer your question, your toko gently nudges your hand as if encouraging you to store the stone in your bag.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 5: Adept
  • Must turn in five bolts of cloth (Linen or Cotton. Maybe mixed)
  • Depict your toko exploring a ruined temple in Maquraq.
Rewards
  • 12000 TT
  • Bag of Gems x 1
  • Crafting Bundle x 1
  • Uncommon Recipe x 1

Prompt Six

Run!

As you near Sankhij Village once more, you hear a group of men talking on the outskirts. Pausing, hidden by the jungle undergrowth, you notice a small campfire with Jones poking a stick into the fire. A few of his men seem to be sitting around it, including the man that mentioned finding dogs on your last trip here. Smiling to yourself, you're about to walk over to him to present the stone you’ve found for him when your eyes stray to a small cage with a whimpering puppy. It’s hard to tell, but it looks like the tawny puppy looks to have large ears and perhaps black markings. Could it be one like those depicted in the mural? Your attention goes back to Jones’ men as they start talking before you move.

“Wonder when the patsy’s going to get back?” one of the men mused, shuffling a deck of cards.

“If they get back,” Jones guffawed. “How many have we sent out only for the jungle to swallow?”

“Uh…six? No. Seven. Maybe this one’ll be different,” the first man replied, now dealing the cards to the other men sitting around the fire..

“I hope so. I’d love to get my hands on more of those dogs. Rich collectors are going to pay handsomely for them if we can just find out where they’re coming from!” you hear Jones reply with a note of anger in his voice.

Patsy? Dogs? You wonder as you pause. Anger rises in you as you realize it has to be you they are referring to as the patsy. You think back to the temple and its mural of dogs. The mural has to be the same type as the puppy in the cage. How was all of this connected? Jones sent you after the stone in your bag. What use was it to him? By now, you’ve figured out that whatever it is, you’re not going to come out on top since he wants to use you. You back away from the campfire slowly, gesturing to your toko silently. You notice Jones’ men have gone silent as well as the whole jungle. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Something is not right. You decide you and your toko better put some distance between you and Jones’ men.

As you go to leave quietly, your toko trips on a pile of unused wildlife traps. Crashing metal screams into the silence. Jones yells at his men to investigate. You and your toko share a panicked look before you both turn to flee.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 6: Artisan
  • Must turn in 5 traps of any type (Bear Trap, Fox Trap, Hunting Snare, Rabbit Trap)
  • Depict your toko fleeing Jones’ men in the jungle of Maquraq!
Rewards
  • 12000 TT
  • Deck of Cards x 1

Prompt Seven

Rescue That Pup!

The noise of Jone’s men crashing through the jungle fades into the distance. Not wanting to take chances, you silently signal to your toko. They follow you as you slowly approach the camp. You cautiously creep through the brush until you can clearly see the camp. Everything is quiet, save for the crackling fire and whimpering pup. You slowly survey the area to make sure that no lingering thugs are about. It appears even Jones is gone. Heart thudding, you signal to your tokota to move forward with you. They need no urging as they are as anxious as you are to save the pup. Eyeing the heavy metal crate the pup is contained in, you wonder if you should try to carry the whole crate or try to bust the puppy out first. As you attempt to pick the crate up. You hear a low, guttural growl from your tokota. With your heart sinking into your stomach and a cold wash of fear rolling over you, you turn around.

“You didn’t really think all of us would go after you do you? Somebody had to stay behind to guard the precious cargo,” Jones teased, a smug look plastered on his face.

Your eyes dart around the camp. Jones’ men are fanned out in front of you. The jungle behind you is too dense to charge through for your tokota.

“Now, hand over your bag. Let’s see if you found the stone,” Jones said, motioning for an intimidating woman at his side to approach you.

Instinctively, you back away as your toko moves in front of you. The woman holds out a hand, motioning for the bag while also leveling her weapon at you. Your eyes dart around the camp again. There is no way you can fight your way out of this. Reluctantly, you tell your toko to stand down as you hand your bag over to the woman.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 7: Experienced
  • Must turn in one Gym Bag (or 3 items in the uncommon tier)
  • Depict your toko attempting to rescue the puppy in the jungle.
Rewards
  • 12000 TT
  • Painted Dog x 1

Prompt Eight

Akanti Intervenes

With Jones and his men distracted, you turn around to the puppy’s cage. Panicking, you look around for something to break the lock. A large geode lay on a table within arm’s reach. You grab it and strike the lock off. The puppy jumps into your arms. As you spin around to run, you’re faced with Jone and his men’s attention squarely fixed on you once more.

“Now where do you think you’re going?” Jones laughs, gesturing for two of his men to approach you.

With nowhere to go, you back up again. You bump the table, causing the contents to spill to the jungle floor. Then, you feel it.

Rage. Ancient, unspeakable rage. It’s not coming from you, but permeating the entire area. The people approaching you pause, worried looks on their faces.

A bright flash lights up the area, accompanied by a boneshaking roar. Suddenly there is a giant pink tinged tiger in between you and the poachers.

Akanti….

The tigress lowered her head, approaching the poachers with a low growl. All but Jones drop their weapons and flee into the forest. Akanti moves closer to Jones, snarling. Finally, he loses heart and flees into the jungle, dropping the stone. She lopes after Jones and his band of poachers. A small person runs out of the forest, snatching up the dropped stone, stuffing it back in your bag.

The pink robed figure approaches you, returning your bag to you. “Come. Akanti will keep them busy for awhile, but we must not remain,” they tell you.

Instinctively, you know you can trust this person you assume to be a follower of Akanti.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 8: Master
  • Must turn in Light Jacket, any Toko Teddy, any two food items in the Uncommon Tier.
  • Depict your Toko with Akanti in the jungle.
Rewards
  • 14000 TT

Prompt Nine

Follow that Pup!

As you disembark from the boat, you see a man sitting in a wooden deck chair on the dock. His spurred boots are crossed on the dock’s railing. The most surprising thing about him is the fact that he’s playing a harmonica. And very well at that. There was actually a small crowd gathered around him.

After a few moments, he pauses looking up at you. “You’re the one with the stone,” he asks, his eyes going to your toko and the puppy sporting an ugly jacket.

After you introduce yourselves to each other, he leads you to a small camp a short distance from the docks. As you travel, you recount your adventures thus far.

Jed lets out a low whistle. “Incredible! You’ve seen two deities so far? I’ve never even seen one! I’ve had dealings with Akanti’s followers before as a warden. They’ve helped me track down poachers. They’ve got good hearts, so I knew when I received word you needed help, I needed to step up.”

You glance around the area to make sure nobody else was around the area. Carefully, you draw out the stone and unwrap it. Jed reverently runs his hands over the stone’s surface. The painted puppy wanders over, standing up on Jed’s leg to look at the stone. It let out a series of chirps directed at the stone. Without warning, the puppy dropped to all fours and ran off.

You quickly wrap the stone and deposit it back in your bag. You follow Jed and your toko as they race after the pup. You begin to worry as you can’t see the pup anymore and night is setting in quickly. You’re thankful that Jed seems to know his way around Fosbir or else the three of you might get lost out here.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 9: Grand Master
  • Must turn in one Atlas (or any 1 rare item and 2 uncommon items)
  • Depict your Toko chasing the painted dog puppy through Fosbir.
Rewards
  • 14000 TT
  • Aurorium x 1
  • Crafting Bundle x 1
  • Legendary Recipe x 1

Prompt Ten

Found!

You and Jed follow the painted puppy through a series of tight crevices in between two mesas. Your toko follows, occasionally expressing their displeasure at the tight squeezes they must get through to keep up. The space above you starts to narrow until you can no longer see the sky.

“I think we’re in a cave now,” Jed says as he pulls out a flashlight, tossing you one as well.

You can no longer see the puppy ahead of you, but you hear him start to whine. You’re able to continue through the cave until you come to a dead end. Jed shoots you a confused look as you flick your flashlights over the walls. You realize the puppy is gone, but there’s no where he could have gone. Even your tokos are looking around in confusion. You run your hand over the rough sandstone, seeking any secrets it may hold. Your toko leans forward over you as you bend down. Their leg bumps you, knocking you off balance. You fall against the wall behind you. To your astonishment you hear a click and then something sliding.

Jeb’s flashlight illuminates a hole in the wall that you swear wasn’t there previously. As you eye it, you realize the shape of the hole resembles Varaska’s Stone. You dig around in your pack, pulling out the stone. You carefully remove the wrapping. Still sitting on the ground, you hand it to Jed. Reverently, he cautiously inserts it into the hole. It’s a perfect fit! All of you wait expectantly. Nothing happens.

Your toko shifts closer. You realize they’re staring at a place on the ceiling with their ears up like they’re listening to something. Their eyes linger for a second and then they lean forward even more, almost stepping on you. They gently boop the stone with their snoot. A roar fills the tiny cave and the stone glows green and yellow, settling to fill in the etching of Varaska. The point of the cave dissolves, flooding the cave with light.

You stand up and follow Jed out of the cave. To your surprise, you find yourself in a small arid valley, wedge in between tall, thin mesas. Your toko pushes past you, giving a few short woofs. The puppy reappears, wagging his tail happily. An entire pack trots after him, chittering. Jeb lets out a low whistle as the painted dogs surged around the three of you. The puppy licks your tokos muzzle as they lower it to greet the young dog. The puppy play bows to your toko. Your toko takes off after the puppy as a few of the adults join in. To your surprise, the nearest wild dog nudges your hand, asking for pets. While you scratch the dog's chin, you look over at Jed.

“Varaska did an excellent job hiding these pups from smugglers. If they’d have gotten their hands on them, they’d have sold all of them for as much TT as they could get. We need to let the Research Station know about them. They’re obviously great companions for tokotas. But that can wait a little bit,” Jed said as he sat down on the ground with a painted dog puppy in his arms.

Requirements
  • Must be Crafting Tier 10: Legend
  • Must turn in 1 legendary item, 2 rare items and 3 uncommon items.
  • Depict your toko in an arid desert valley with at least 3 painted dogs.
Rewards
  • 20000 TT
  • Unidentified Pup x 1
  • Crafting Bundle x 1
  • Painted Dog Totem Unlocked
