Maedrem is rarely seen, preferring to exist only in the reflections atop the Dreaming Waters. They are easily mistaken for the mirror image of the starry view above. The colder the lake, the clearer Maedrem's reflection becomes allowing them to better interact with the world around them. If the mountain lake serves as a gateway to the realm of dreams, then Maedrem is the guardian. Keeping the brave and the foolhardy alike from stumbling into the icy water.

Creatures can barter passage from Maedream by offering up a pleasant memory that the deity may bask in for a while. They keep hold of the memories until the owner returns from the waters to claim them. For the very few they deem worthy, they'll shepherd them safely into the Dreaming Waters and back as well. If you try to play tricks or have evil intentions for the realm of dreams, then Maedream will leave you to the icy waters instead.
