Shole Shore

Narnvak
Warm, but distinctively rainy. The weather tends to be humid at all times of the year, with an overcast sky more common than sunshine. During winter, the shore tends to be windy, with fog being more common in spring and summer.
Description:
Located next to the moderate fishing village of Sholeshire, Shole Shore is a long stretch of beach. Blanketed by an odd dark grey sand, it's not ideal for sunbathing or beachside fun, but perfect for fishing and seashell hunting. Sea glass is very often found on the beach as well, and this phenomenon is a major draw for tourists. The shore is rocky, with small tidepools that glimmer with more sea glass and teaming with aquatic life. They bring spots of colour to the otherwise rather grey landscape. The water is usually too cold to swim in, but Sholeshire locals hold a Polar-Toko Swim every winter, where people and their tokotas can compete in water sports in the freezing water for prizes.
Landmarks:
  • Sholeshire - A mid sized fishing village, Sholeshire is a friendly place that welcomes tourists with open arms. Full of nice cafes, cozy bed and breakfasts, and truly charming seafood restaurants serving fresh, locally caught fish
  • Red Pool point - A collection of rock formations and tide pools located on the northern tip of Shole Shore, these tidepools are known for containing a large concentration of sea urchins, particularly Mesocentrotus franciscanus (the Red Sea Urchin). These critters give the tidepools a distinctly red hue, but the term red pool came about from those who tried to reach out and touch the spiky critters, and ended up regretting it! There are signs put up around these pools, warning people to look but don't touch!
  • Lore:
Its said that walking on the shore on a full moon will give you good luck for the rest of the month. Every full moon, the town has a large bonfire on the beach, with fun drinks and yummy food in order to bring luck to everyone attending.

The locals believe that all the sea glass that can be found on the shore are scales from a mythical water serpent that lives near the shore. It's said that when the serpent sheds its skin, it becomes glass-like and washes up on the shore.
