The Superiors

Tartok
Depending on your altitude, the weather can range from pleasant but chilly to very cold! The mountain peaks are snow covered year round and there are several locations used for skiing or other snow related activities. While storms blow through they are usually mild.
Description:
The general location has been named after the small range at the heart of the region. The area is known for being picturesque year-round. People and tokotas alike flock to the forest and mountains for the plethora of activities offered.
Landmarks:
  • The Big Aspens - It has the largest concentrations of the tree it was named for (aspens!). During the fall the landscape turns brilliant shades of red, gold, and orange as the trees prepare to shed their leaves. As appealing as the forest is visually it has other draws. The game is easy to come by though it is usually of a smaller variety. Human hunting is restricted in the area given the sizable number of people using the forest for recreational purposes such as camping or hiking.
  • Snowshoe Valley - A treeless valley tucked away in the mountains. The flat area makes ideal sledding conditions and has been used for short-distance races and pulling contests. Actual snowshoeing takes place in the valley but it is primarily named after the abundant rabbit population. Wild tokotas often blow through looking for an easy meal. It’s not a half-bad place to teach pups to hunt either!
  • The Superior Range - A striking collection of peaks that make up the heart of the region. While not the tallest or largest range it is possibly the most accessible. The shelter the mountains provide generates some of the safest pup rearing territory available to wild tokotas. The biggest drawback comes to inform of the large human population. The local lodge nestled high in the mountains is a huge draw for sportsmen year-round. A whole community has sprung up around the ski industry at lower altitudes. The general atmosphere is cheerful but that’s to be excepted from a place run on tourist dollars! If a wild tokota can stand the proximity to its tamed brothers and humans it can be prime territory for a pack.
Lore:
  • The area has a reputation for being a place of healing. Maybe it’s just that clean mountain air and easy lifestyle or maybe there is something more to it than that.
  • With wild animals and humans in such close quarters confrontation is inevitable. It’s advisable for both parties to just steer clear of one another.
  • Rockslides and avalanches are both real threats year-round. Caution is always advised in the mountains.
  • Weather changes quickly in the higher elevations. Even a mild winter storm could be deadly if one is unprepared!
