  • A sphinx polar bear-like dire tokota
Lore:
The mythos on Ekhoura varies, but they are commonly believed to be the keeper of the Aurora Stone in the depths of the Soul Pool. They live in the space between the mortal plane and the spirit realm. As such, they are responsible for linking a soul animal to their Tokota and pass on their wisdom to whoever stands on the Water's Edge. Their true form is that of a conglomeration of the notable characteristics of the known soul animals, but they have been known to take the form of the individual animals or a sphinx, polar bear-like dire.

They speak in whispers as light as ripples, words only decipherable in complete silence. It is believed that they only show themselves to those who have fully realized themselves and are willing to acknowledge their deepest flaws, their lowest moments, and their highest aspirations. When a Tokota takes a sip from the Soul Pool, it will be as though Ekhoura has walked through every part of their life alongside them. They know the things about yourself that you yourself don't even know... or don't want to acknowledge.

The Aurora Stone is thought to be what anchors them to the mortal plane. Whether they are the soul of a deceased Tokota, a person, or a plethora of souls in one is unknown. Accounts from people who have heard them say that they can hear multiple voices speaking at once, which gives credence to the latter theory.
