Background: Obayana keeps himself to himself, avoiding those outside of his crew and business ventures. When he is asked about his past, he usually replies that “there is no story to tell”, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Obayana was orphaned at a very young age when his parents’ boat was ripped to shreds during a mad winter storm inflicted upon Taniya's coastal regions by Borga. Only the boy survived the shipwrecking, finding himself washed up on Walrus Beach. Because it was a harsh winter, there was no one around to find him. Once he regained consciousness, he made his way inland, fending for himself and scavenging for food wherever possible. Eventually, the boy found himself within the Starfall Expanse where he taught himself to hunt, forage and fashion clothes out of animal skins. As he grew older, Obayana found himself wandering closer to human civilization. He kept to the shadows, learning all that he could from them; including the value of certain things like gold, diamonds, and even Tokotas. At the age of fifteen, he joined the crew of a pirate known as Haki the Ruthless on the ship The Black Death. Here he learned how to fight and to negatively interact with others. The crew was a bad influence on the impressionable teen and he soon became as ruthless as his captain, who quickly made him his first mate. Haki was killed in a skirmish off the coast of Narnvak and Obayana took his place as captain. He quickly renamed the ship to “The Black Flame” as he preferred the land of Alurik, making Rosen Isle his home base.

Appearance: Obayana is a towering man with dark brown skin and eyes akin to inkwells. He is bald, muscular and heavily scarred. His nose is flat due to the removal of bone after a severe break. His right eye is clouded with a deep scar running through it, his left index finger is also missing. When doing business with Tokotna's elite, he wears a dark grey suit with a white shirt and a black tie. At all other times, he wears ripped blue jeans and army boots.
