So You've Tamed a Tokota

The Tokotna Cultural Association (TCA) takes great pride in the programs it manages for Tokotas, both of the wild and less wild varieties. While it welcomes all to try their hand at taming, bringing your new Tokota home is merely step one. The TCA has put together a program to ensure the careful integration of these precious Tokotas in their new homes.
A freshly tamed TCA Tokota comes with a few restrictions that can be unlocked by completing the Interaction Levels below.
  • May not have Tack, Companions, or other items applied via Tack Apps.
  • May not participate in Activities.
  • May not participate in Breeding.
  • May not be transferred to a new Owner.
These restrictions are applied to all Tokotas from the Rehoming Project, Outpost Outreach, and Wild Taming.

  1. Your tokota may have been tamed, but there are still many things for your tokota and their handler to learn about each other. Depict them learning about each other's most or least favorite activity to do!
  2. TCA tokotas are not for the faint of heart to handle. Show your handler teaching your tokota to walk on a lead for the first time! Did it go smoothly? Or did your tokota put their foot down? Depict them going for that first attempt.
  3. The journey from the wild can sometimes be a long one after taming your tokota. How well do your tokota and handler travel together? Are they able to work together? Depict your tokota and handler working together or failing to achieve a typical camping task such as hunting or camp set up.
  4. Tack of all kinds is foreign to TCA tokotas. How does your handler convince their new tokota to wear tack for the first time? Did it end up in a mess or success? Depict your handler dressing in their tokota in tack.
  5. Outside is usually pretty dirty, and so are TCA tokotas fresh in from the wild. Bath time with a tokota is always an adventure, but one that’s never had a bath before is even crazier. How does your handler convince their tokota to soak in the tub? Depict them during that first bath time.

Tier 2 - Forming Bonds:
Requirements:
  • 50 Total HP from Non-Taming or TCA sources
  • 2 Prompts from below list

Rewards: Click to see Prompt List
  1. TCA tokotas aren’t usually socialized with other tokotas or handlers living in the wild. Now that they’ve adapted to their new surroundings, it’s time to introduce them to more friends. Does your handler bring in another tokota you own? Bigger or smaller? Depict how the first encounter with another beyond your handler goes.
  2. Every adventure doesn’t always go smoothly. Your handler and tokotas run into a dangerous situation. What happens when stress is included in the mix, be it a predator or natural disaster? How do they handle it together? Depict your handler and tokota solving their problem together.
  3. Despite spending more time together, there will be hiccups in all relationships. TCA tokotas make mistakes, such as being too rough or chasing something they shouldn’t. How does your handler deal with these situations? Firmly or gently? Depict your handler, disciplining their tokota or stopping them mid-disaster.
  4. Handlers aren’t perfect. They make mistakes all the time, especially when dealing with skittish animals. Maybe they spoke too harshly, sending their tokotas running, or weren’t firm enough, causing someone to get hurt. Depict your handler making a mistake or fixing one they’ve made in training.
  5. Sometimes, the way to the heart of the new tokotas is through their favorite food. Figuring out their preference can be a long process, but the moment a handler gets it right is the best. Tokotas react in all sorts of happy and silly ways. Depict your handler giving their tokota the best treat in the world!

Tier 3 - Domesticated:
Requirements:
  • 75 Total HP from Non-Taming or TCA sources
  • 2 Prompts from below list

Rewards: Click to see Prompt List
  1. One of the signs of genuine trust is when a tokota is unwell or is injured and allows its handler in close. Handlers must gather the correct supplies and tend to their tokota to prove that trust is warranted. Depict your handler taking care of the tokota during this time.
  2. A proper test of taming is to take a newly domesticated tokota into busy urban settings. What happens when the tokota is introduced to the bustling streets and crowds? Does their training hold, or do they flee? Depict them in a city and how they handle the busy setting.
  3. Competitions are a normal part of Tokotna; they range from agility to shows of all kinds. Only if there is a healthy bond between the handler and tokota will they stand up to the challenge. How will they react to all the attention? Do they win? Depict your handler and tokota in the middle of a competition setting.
  4. Accidents sometimes incapacitate handlers, especially out in the wilds of Tokotna. When your handler isn’t able to give commands, then the tokota is left with only its training. What will they do? Do they take their handler to safety? Or find help? Depict your tokota, saving their handler from a disaster.
  5. It’s been a year since your handler and tokota met! They’ve shared many adventures and memories. What do these new best friends do on the anniversary of their friendship? Go for a ride? Share gifts? Or just stay home curled up by the fire? Depict your handler and tokota together, celebrating in their favorite way.

Prompt Requirements

General
  • All work should be your own. It cannot be commissioned. Collaborations with one other person (2 collaborators max) is acceptable. Each person's parts must be clearly labeled.
  • An interaction prompt may only include one Tokota being domesticated at a time. If collaborated, two Tokotas may be domesticated in a single set of rites.
  • For interaction, Tokotas require a handler. Starters may not substitute handlers. This certification is meant to encourage the development of a bond between your Tokotas and their handlers, so using Starters would not make sense!
  • A Tokota with the Envoy Unique Trait may be used instead of a handler.
  • Choose only two of the available prompts to complete and submit on the Hierarchy Updates journal.
